Former Holmdel BOE Member Endorses Sockol
From the Independent, April 1, 2010 Edition:
I’m pleased that Mike Sockol has decided to take on the challenge of serving on the Holmdel Board of Education. Having served on the school board myself for seven years, I know it can be a difficult and demanding job, and we need people like Mike who can bring their energy, intelligence and commitment to ensure all of our children receive the very best education possible.
I know that Mike cares about kids. He has spent several years as an active volunteer in youth organizations, such as the Cub Scouts and HYAA. I know he cares about the community, having served as a member of the Monmouth County Library Commission, the Holmdel Environmental Commission, and the Bayonet Farm Advisory Committee. He and his family have lived in Holmdel for almost ten years, and have two sons currently attending Holmdel schools.
During Mike’s career, he has helped promote arts education as a marketing director at a contemporary art museum, and provided public relations counsel for clients in higher education. As a communications professional, he has managed crises and budgets, found common ground among groups with different agendas, and has helped organizations of all sizes develop systems that ensure an open disclosure of information to the public. These are the type of business skills we need on the school board.
On April 20, I’m asking all my neighbors and friends to vote for Mike Sockol for the Holmdel Board of Education. I’m confident he is the right man to speak for the interests of the entire community.
