Residents support Sockol for HBOE

From the Independent, March 25, 2010 edition:

We are writing this letter in support of Mike Sockol, who is a candidate for the upcoming election of the Holmdel Board of Education. We first met Mike at the karate school where he and one of our daughters were training for their black belt. We could not help but admire the determination and perseverance of someone in his mid- 40s involved in such a disciplined and strenuous pursuit. After earning his black belt, he often returns to the school to offer encouragement and advice to other students striving to accomplish the same goal.

We have also met Mr. Sockol over the years at school and town events, where he will seek us out to chat about current Holmdel issues and our respective children in the Holmdel school system. This interaction revealed a caring, highly energetic, intelligent, educated and hard-working member of our community. He has been an active volunteer in town and currently serves on the Monmouth County Library Commission, which oversees the operation of a dozen libraries in the region. He has also been a member of the Holmdel Environmental Commission and the Bayonet Farm Advisory Committee.

Mike is passionate about education and all its nuances and will bring fresh energy and ideas to the school board. He has shown a commitment for openness and fair play, and we fully endorse his candidacy for the school board to ensure and perpetuate the high standard of learning in our school district. We hope that you will make the same choice.
