Former Holmdel BOE Member Endorses Sockol

I’m pleased that Mike Sockol has decided to take on the challenge of serving on the Holmdel Board of Education.  Having served on the school board myself for seven years, I know it can be a difficult and demanding job, and we need people like Mike who can bring their energy, intelligence and commitment to ensure all of our children receive the very best education possible.

Residents support Sockol for HBOE

From the Independent, March 25, 2010 edition:

We are writing this letter in support of Mike Sockol, who is a candidate for the upcoming election of the Holmdel Board of Education. We first met Mike at the karate school where he and one of our daughters were training for their black belt. We could not help but admire the determination and perseverance of someone in his mid- 40s involved in such a disciplined and strenuous pursuit. After earning his black belt, he often returns to the school to offer encouragement and advice to other students striving to accomplish the same goal.

Footlights

As gale force winds blew outside, the kids inside were kicking up a storm.

My oldest son and I braved the foul weather to see the Holmdel Theatre Guild production of  “Guys and Dolls” last night.   The musical first debuted on Broadway in 1950, and everything about the show is timeless–great music, great dialogue, and great ensemble action.   

The HTG  injected the energy you would expect from a group of youthful actors, and all of the main parts were cast perfectly (it was fun watching Noah Rauchwerk’s “Nicely-Nicely” channeling Stubby Kaye.  Even knowing that reference simply proves how old I have become).
